SACSAS Academy- secular organization dedicated to socio-economic change in Manipur. - in pursuit this goal, SACSAS focuses on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.- to open schools in remote villages where there are no schools of any form
Founded by:Shantikumar Ningthoujam Surjit Yumkhaibam and other friendsOpen the first center at Laishoi village (2003) in Manipur
Currently there are 5 centers- SACSAS Academy 1 - Laishoi branch - SACSAS Academy 2 - Maobam branch - SACSAS Academy 3 - Uyungkhong branch - SACSAS Academy 4 - Loilamkot branch - SACSAS Academy 5 - New Dampi branch
Asha Houston started to support from 2005Asha Dallas joined in 2008So far Laishoi branch has 60+ kids 4 teachers Class KG-I, KG-II, 1, 2 Maobam branch has 75+ kids 4 teachers Class KG-I, KG-II, 1, 2 Uyungkhong branch has 70+ kids 4 teachers Class KG-I, KG-II, 1, 2, 3 Loilamkot branch has 75+ kids 4 teachers Class KG-I, KG-II, 1, 2, 3 NewDampi branch has 185+ kids 6 teachers Class KG-I, KG-II, 1, 2, 3, 4
Performance Statistics- 65+ kids graduated from these centers- 40+ of them went to neighboring government schools- 4 of them ranked top 5 in the district level II standard test

Funds needed for 2009: Each school needs: Headmaster salary (2000x12x1) = Rs. 24,000 Asst. teacher salary (1800x12x3) = Rs. 64,800 Books for 70 kids = Rs. 38,000 Total per school = Rs.126,800 Number of schools need support for 2009: 3 SACSAS Academy at Laishoi village is at a point where the school will be closed if we do not support them ASAP.
Remote villages in Manipur are infiltrated with extremists/terrorists/extortionistsIf we do not send the kids in these villages to school, there is highly likely that they will pick up guns and join these extortionists groupsIf we send these kids to primary school, they may go to high school and to college and to university and even to the USALet us give them a chanceIf we do not help who else will
