Currently • I attend Buford High School as a sophomore. • I have taken Honors Biology, and Introduction to Healthcare Science. I am currently taking Honors Chemistry, and Healthcare 2: Applications. In the future of my high school career I plan to take Healthcare 3: General Medicine, as well as the required science courses offered by Buford High School. • My current GPA is 3.9.
After High school • I plan to attend the University of South Carolina. • I will attain a Bachelor's Science Degree in Biological Science. This will be completed in a total of 4 years. • Out of state tuition: $28,461 • Housing: $5,988 • Meals: $2,921 • Books and Supplies: $994 • TOTAL COST FOR ONE YEAR: $38,364 (without scholarship funding)
Medical school • I plan on attending Emory University to acquire a Medical Degree. • This should take me 4 years to complete. • Tuition and Fees: $37,761 • Supplies: $4,597 • Clinical Fees: $540 • TOTAL: $42,898
Requirements • A 3 year training course known as “Residency” is required in order to become a Pediatrician. • A test is taken at the end of the “Residency” if willing to become a certified pediatrician.
Add-ons and salary • Volunteer work at a children’s healthcare facilty. • Residency - $30,000-$45,000/year • Starting after Residency - $100,000-$140,000 • Average Pediatrician - $155,000 • Range - $80,000 (part time) - $300,000 (very busy)
final destination • I will work in a pediatric clinic near my choice of residency, either on the beaches of South Carolina, or near my family in Georgia.
