  2. Skills Needed to be a Fashion Designer Well, it takes a lot of effort for a fashion designer to bring fashion creation to the public. The gowns and the dresses you see celebrities wear on the award shows and models wear in pageants take days to come in the final shape.

  3. Though the sense of creating the design can be made in different ways, but the schedule revolves around creating and making sketches, interpreting it on dummy and sewing pieces of material together. Making the first version of the design and then carried forward as a precursor. It’s a creative field so you need a list of skills to lead the industry.

  4. Here are the skills needed to be a fashion designer. The basic skills required to be a fashion designer is that he/she must be creative naturally as this makes their collection completely unique. This ability makes their profession different from others. In the world where each and every task is performed with the help of machines, this profession also involves technology, which helps in basic designing. Computer-aided design (CAD) is the most commonly used technique used by many designers in this industry.

  5. In spite of this fact, most of the designers make a sketch of the designs by hand. This was considered as the most tedious procedure. CAD gives designers ease to design clothes on virtual models, with the help of tools present, giving all colors and shapes, and this saves their time as it just needs few adjustments. Their next step is to develop a more detailed working pattern so the designer must have fine eyes for details. This persuasive skill has a high value in the fashion industry.

  6. Making rough sketches is the initial stage of any work, but the final product gets viewed by the designer to make sound decisions at the end. They make a rough model of the design on a piece of cloth. This is done by low-cost sewing material to make a rough model of the plan. This designed material is then placed on a mannequin stand; the designer can see how the material will drape or hang on a human form.

  7. Besides being creative, one must also be able to deal with all the difficulties because at a particular stage, the creation of designs can completely become complex. To develop such designs and to understand them is in itself a skill. The places which run as large design houses, hire their own pattern-makers, tailors, and sewers with all their work distinguished so that each individual can create the master patterns.

  8. Designers who work for small design firms usually do most of the technical pattern-making and sewing tasks on their own. Once the garment is complete, the designer will either modify it or approve the design for showing in a collection.

  9. A professional fashion designer has full control over all the fashion events and exhibitions. They know the costing of each ready garment, and mechanism to present the garment. They also have assistants to help them in every small detail. You have to show a blend of your institutional knowledge with the technological aspect, which in itself is a task. This application of the blend needs years of practice and a mentor to guide, and faculty at Avantika University has years of field experience in the industry.

  10. Thus, if one possesses all the above skills can go forward for fashion designing as a career option. There are many top fashion designing colleges in India, offering many designing courses varying in duration. It is better to get to know about the accurate career option before it is too late.
