Key Employers • Know who will be there • Know the company facts • Ask the appropriate questions • Showcase your knowledge
Prepare Your Resume • Polish resume and correct any errors • Prepare several copies of your resume • Place resume in professional folder
30 second Elevator Speech • Very limited time to make an impression so you need to rehearse your “elevator speech” • Usually from 30 sec to 1 min long • It is great if interviewer asks you the famous question “Tell me about yourself?”
Sample Questions to Ask! • Why did you choose this career? • Can you describe a typical day for someone in the entry-level or internship position? • What are the steps involved in your company’s hiring process? What are the timelines?
Job Interview Questions • How would you describe yourself? • What's more important to you-the work itself or how much you’re paid for doing it? • What do you consider to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses? • What motivates you to go the extra mile on a project or job? • Why should I hire you?
Dress the Part • Know the expected attire • Be conservative and well-groomed • Wear minimal accessories
The Night Before • Resume • Portfolio (to hold everything) • Pens • Notepads • List of pre-typed questions to ask • Quick info on company background • Bring breath mints NEVER GUM!
Be Confident • As you approach Recruiter • Make a eye contact • Smile • Offer a firm handshake • Introduce yourself confidently
Meaningful Conversation • Be professional and courteous all the time • Have conversation related to company • Question reflecting your interest and research
Take Notes • Key words • Example: the specific skills they are looking for
Close the Conversation • Thank the employer for his time • Ask question that will help you to follow up • Request a business card
After the Fair • Follow up with thank you note • In the note: • Thank the employer for his time • Mention the name of the fair • Reiterate your strength and interest in the company • Ask for the interview
