Integrated Operations in Statoil Vision Automated and remotely operated fields Definition An instrumented and automatedfield that utilizes People and Technology to remotelymonitor, model and control processes in a collaborative, safe and environmentally friendly way in order to maximize field life value.
Statoils Onshore Support Centre, Stjørdal • Onshore Operation Center (OOC)– • 24/7 under operation • Operator and service companies • Faster learning curve of team due to increased exposure • Trained staff in uncertainty and risk mgt. • Remote control of geo-steering • Expertise is not confined to one asset • Ability to link resources between other geographic operation centers e.g. Bergen, Stavanger & Stjørdal • Video conferencing capability
Tampen Integrated OperationsWay forward • Step 1 “ Incremental step” Implement Local e-drilling and “e-production management in all Tampen assets. • Step 2 “ Step Change” Establish a 24/7 Onshore Operational Centers (OOC) in Bergen and Stavanger to cover all RESU operational activities in the Tampen area • Step 3 Automated real-time monitoring, control and optimizations of all operations for fields in the Tampen Area from the Onshore Operational Centers Expand OOC to cover other Statoil assets as; INT & UPN Tampen Area
Real time related development • DART R&D project (started in 1997) • Developed DART Loader, a tool for transfering drilling data onshore • Used DART Loader knowledge in Statoil’s WITSML participation • Worked together with Landmark in their OpenWire development (input&testing) • Developed Survey QA/QC in 2002/2003 • Application for automated real time data management and independent quality control service for directional survey data
Real time related imeplementation • OpenWire implemented in Statoil 2003/2004 (Real Time Service – RTS) • Real time centre with OpenWire, supporting all licenses/operation rooms • 24/7 support in the near future • Vast majority of 2003 ”WITSML wells” in the world drilled by Statoil on the Norwegian continental shelf. • Time based drilling data • Currently Statoil does not have a solution for viewing/accessing time based drilling data • We are are in the process of acquiring a system • There is no off-the-shelf product/solution available • We have tenders from 7 potential vendors – that shows great interest • Evaluation in process • Contract to be awarded Q2 2004

Future development • WITSML for time-based right-time data (drilling, production and facilities) • Formats • Procedures • Tools / models • Consolidate the current developed WITSML standard for depth based data and increase the use of the full potential in the defined standard • WITSML formats for seismic data?
IMPORTANT FOR SECURING PAYBACK FROM ’INTEGRATED OPERATION’ SOLUTIONS!!! FOCUS ON CHANGES IN THE WORKFLOWS, BUILDING FACILITIES IS NOT THE PROBLEM
