Engineering—low rates of SA Purdue ME: about 30% of graduates have some international experience! Do you?
We asked Purdue ME’s… • Why not study abroad as part of your Purdue BSME? • They told us: • 1. Expensive! • 2. Extends time to graduation! • 3. Missing out on friends and family!
So we built our ME program in China to those specifications: • 1. NO additional cost! (Including airfare!) • 2. NO extended time to graduation! • 3. GOwith 29 ME friends—a class full! • And we added: For everyone in “good standing,” and classes in English, no foreign language requirement!
Note: • Shirtsleeves! Ok, we missed the snow recess. • These 33 ME’s will complete a semester of study at SJTU and return to campus for their senior year job search—with CHINA on their resume. • They are smiling!
The China-ETA Program • One semester at SJTU, 15 to 18 credits • Pre-certified for Purdue credit (15 to 19) • Fits the usual “Semester Six” POS • Finish Mid-May • Taught in English, • Both Purdue and SJTU Faculty

dla@purdue.edu A professional investment: • Stay competitive—international experience used to be the exception, but a revolution is underway, e.g, RPI, majority of engineers to graduate with international experience. • Internationally known partner—our partner is ranked #1 in China in Mechanical Engineering—Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
What else? • Program travel to engineering and manufacturing sites (e.g., Delphi, Honeywell) • Program travel to nearby historic sites, e.g., Hangzhou • “Spring Break” at Chinese New Year’s—and guess who invented black powder?
At CTC: fuel systems development, environmental, durability, vibration and electromagnetic testing. Also, products such as in-car entertainment and electronic and safety systems. Jan 2011--Delphi China Tech Center
Delphi in China Delphi total investment in China is about US$500 million Delphi has 17 legal entities in China.
