Undulator Vacuum System/Mechanical • Beamline Diagnostics • RFBPM • Different type under consideration • Highlights of Schedule • Vacuum Testing of Diagnostics Components • What drives this issue • Status of Testing
Beamline Diagnostics C-Band RFBPM now being considered instead of X-Band C-Band has the possibility of using industry supplied electronics According to published literature resolution ~30 nm
Beamline Diagnostics • Highlights of the Schedule • Design work to start March 2005 • Timing of Design work based of funding during Continuing Resolution • Use intervening time to research C-Band RFBPM (ANL) • Goal is to have BPM mechanical design by June 2005 • Goal is to have (3) test BPMs by September 2005 • Currently this schedule is undergoing a review
Beamline Diagnostics • Vacuum Testing of Diagnostics Components • What drives this issue • The Diagnostics Station is considering the use of motion components in the vacuum section where we do not have a lot of experience. • Slides and Stages • Motors • The initial concept was to put the motion components in the vacuum for reasons of positional accuracy. • The design is at a point where changes are possible to move things in and out of vacuum • The intention is to subject components to residual gas analysis and outgassing measurement to qualify them for use.
Beamline Diagnostics • Status of Testing • A draft test procedure has been written that covers both residual gas analysis and outgassing measurement. • The Test Set-up is assembled • The Set-up has completed a troubleshoot/ clean-up process • The Set-up is in the process of establishing a base performance profile • Suppliers are being contacted for test samples
Schedule • Diagnostics • Vacuum System
Undulator Vacuum System / Chamber Design • Conclusions: • Prototype Chamber construction progressing • The prototype Bellows has been modeled and after issuing drawings it will enter the fabrication phase. • The order of the Beamline Components is still undergoing some adjustments but it is firming to allow design of the cradle assembly • A new direction for the RFBPM is being considered and work on it is schedule for March 2005 • Motion components vacuum testing has just entered the first stage of testing. • Questions
