Translating National Priorities into ActionADD 2012 Technical Assistance Institute • Performance Measure – Self-Advocacy • 1.1 The number of people with developmental disabilities and families of those with developmental disabilities who were provided assistance in becoming active participants in making decisions that affect their lives. (Output- reported annually) • Provided assistance is defined as the following: • Technical assistance, • Training, • Financial assistance, • Mentoring, and • Other activities as defined in the Act. • 1.2 The percent of those people (in number one) who became active participants in making decisions that affect the following areas. (Outcome – reported annually) • Their lives (i.e. self-advocacy), • Others’ lives (i.e., family advocacy, advocacy, and coalitions), • Systems change that affects others (i.e. policy boards, advisory boards, governing bodies, leadership within or for agencies and organizations)
Translating National Priorities into ActionADD 2012 Technical Assistance Institute • Performance Measure – Systems Change • 2.1 Number of outputs related to transforming fragmented approaches into a coordinated and effective system that represents the outcomes specified in the DD Act - i.e. policy statements, regulations, formal agreements, partnership agreements, effective/best/promising/evidence-based practices. (output – reported annually) • Created/improved/refined/deleted policies, statutes, regulations and/or procedures • Created/improved/refined/deleted programs • Leveraged/allocated/reallocated/dedicated use of funds • Leveraged/allocated/reallocated/dedicated use of resources, other than funds • Engaged organizations in systems change efforts, including best/promising/evidence-based practices developed/implemented/replicated • Organizations involved in coalitions/networks/partnerships • Policy maker educated • 2.2 Adoptions and/or implementation of above transformation approaches which move toward a coordinated and effective systems that represents the outcomes specified in the DD Act, i.e. policy statements, regulations, formal agreements, partnership agreements, effective/best/promising/evidence-based practices. (outcomes – 5 year measure) • Adoption/implementation of new/improved/refined/deleted policies, statutes, regulations and/or procedures • Adoption/implementation of new /improved/refined/deleted programs • Leveraged/allocated/reallocated/dedicated use of funds • Leveraged/allocated/reallocated/dedicated use of resources, other than funds • Organizations adopted/implemented best/promising/evidence-based practices developed/implemented/replicated

Translating National Priorities into ActionADD 2012 Technical Assistance Institute • Immediate Next Steps • Determine whether these measures provide enough information to reflect the actual work of DDCs • Look at how the DDC indicators fit into what the National Performance Measures WorkGroup has developed for a comprehensive look at DD Act Programs (employment, housing/community living, self-determination)
Translating National Priorities into ActionADD 2012 Technical Assistance Institute • Revisions to the PPR Template • AIDD staff proposed a set of revisions to the PPR template which aligns it to the new state plan template • The Workgroup reviewed and provided comments prior to additional revisions. • The most recent version of the proposed PPR template will be shared with you today – with an opportunity for comments scheduled into tomorrow’s agenda.
