SHRM Poll: Relief Efforts for Haiti
March 5, 2010
Introduction On January 12, 2010, the country of Haiti experienced a major earthquake that devastated the country. In February 2010, SHRM conducted a poll of its members to find out how SHRM members and their organizations have responded to the earthquake disaster in Haiti. When possible, similar efforts from 2004 (Tsunami in Asia), 2005 (Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans) and 2010 (Earthquake in Haiti) are compared with each other. According to this research, on the average, organizations are matching 100% of employees’ contributions via company-organized donation.
