  2. Verse 1 In Thy loving-kind-ness, Lord, be merciful to me;

  3. In compassion great blot out all iniquity.

  4. Wash me thoroughly from sin, from all guilt cleanse Thou me;

  5. For transgressions I confess; sins I ever see.

  6. Verse 2 ‘Gainst Thee only have I sinned, done evil in Thy sight,

  7. That Thou speaking may be just, and in judging right.

  8. My iniquities blot out, my sin hide from Thy view,

  9. And in me a clean heart make, spirit right renew.

  10. Verse 3 From Thy gracious presence, Lord, O cast me not away,

  11. And Thy Holy Spirit take not from me I pray.

  12. Joy which Thy salvation brings again to me restore;

  13. With Thy Spirit free do Thou keep me evermore.

  14. Last Verse Sacrifice dost Thou not want, else would I give it Thee,

  15. And with offering shalt Thou not delighted be.

  16. For a broken spirit is to God a sacrifice,

  17. And a broken, contrite heart, Thou wilt not despise.
