Fair Trade USA collects sales reports from partners to ensure each product sold with our logo is a credible Fair Trade product. We believe in Products that are socially and environmentally responsible.

Fair Trade Certified™ Working with Fair Trade USA Fair Trade USA maintains the integrity of the Fair Trade Certified Label™, which communicates to end buyers that the product being purchased is indeed fairly traded. The active participation of suppliers is key in the verification process. Producers and exporters selling into Fair Trade USA supply chains must register with Fair Trade USA. Registration is easy and at no additional cost to FLO-Cert Certified organizations. Here’s how to register and maintain your registration: • Update FTUSA with any changes in your certification status • Send a report of your sales to US business partners twice a year • Review, sign and return your registration agreement • You will receive the registration agreement via email on April 1st. • Inform Fair Trade USA if your certification status changes • Submit to no cost on-site premium audits as needed

Fair Trade Certified™ OCFCU, Ethiopia Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU) AT A GLANCE Fair Trade ID: 897 Total Members: 203,930+ Total Female Members: 22,390+ Total Hectares: 327,921+ USE OF PREMIUM Children and Adults Access Education Community, Education Investment The Union has been able to expand schools, upgrading many to secondary high school levels, and building others closer to town so students wouldn’t have to travel long distances (leaving more time to study and help the family). Miss Likinesh Elias, for example, now only travels 10 minutes to her school: “Before this school was constructed, I was travelling two hours there and back. I was always late and when it rained it was even more difficult. Since this school has been opened here, I’m on time and have time to study.” Above, young community members participate in the organization’s education initiatives. Mr Iyasu Wta, a member of the base- level Kllenso Makon Coffee Cooperative, is attending school with his kids. Prior to the Union, he could not afford to send both of his kids and himself to school; now he can. There is a new kindergarten, seven primary schools (grades 1-6), and two secondary schools. Fair Trade Certified™ OCFCU, Ethiopia Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU) AT A GLANCE Fair Trade ID: 897 Total Members: 203,930+ Total Female Members: 22,390+ Total Hectares: 327,921+ USE OF PREMIUM Potable Water, Health Centers, Veterinary Clinic Community, Health Investment The Union has developed 45 spring water wells that can be used for potable water. The Fair Trade premiums have also funded three deep water well extractions, constructed six health posts and one veterinary clinic. Above, young women community members participate in the organization’s recreational initiatives. New Bridges Connect Communities Community, Production Investment Fair Trade Premiums have also contributed to the construction of at least two bridges, providing easier, and safer, routes. “This water stream used to divide people on both sides of the river before it was constructed, especially during rainy seasons,” says ObboMitikkuuDamisee; now it links both sides. Community Flourmills and Women Safety Community Investment The Union has developed 45 spring water wells that can be used for potable water. The Fair Trade premiums have also funded three deep water well extractions, constructed six health posts and one veterinary clinic. More information on OCFCU available here.

USE OF PREMIUM 2012 New Roads Ease Production and Connect Communities Community, Production, Economic Investment The Shoye Cooperative invested in a road construction and rehabilitation project, which connects residents across five districts to two coffee washing stations, four schools, one health clinic, six healthcare posts, several small markets and religious institutions (approx. 4,500 beneficiaries). Electricity Line Installations Community, Social Investment Two base-level cooperatives, Fero and HomachoWaeno, installed electricity lines from nearby towns to their cooperative areas, providing access to electricity to over 5,000 community members. Building Elementary Schools Education Investment The Shilicho Cooperative constructed three schools, benefitting 1,200 students in the Dara district. New Collection &Storage Warehouse Quality, Production Investment Telamo, another base- level cooperative, built a warehouse for coffee collection and storage.
