Introduction • The Statistical Management Information System is a software tool used in this compliance monitoring process. • Unit E4 is in the process of testing a new software version of the Statistical Management Information System called SMIS+ ("SMIS Plus"). • The SMIS+ should be fully operational and available by the end of April at the following URL address: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/smis/ Eurostat Unit E4 MGSC, 24 – 25 April 2008

The main features of SMIS+ • It collaborates with two other applications: eDAMIS and CIRCA. • SMIS+ is a web based application. • It provides an off-line version of the assessment. • The new software will include internet links to various on-line repositories. • It will allow comparing the assessment of a given country to its assessment of the previous year. • SMIS+ will improve the possibility for measuring compliance.   10. The 2008 compliance monitoring round • The 2008 compliance monitoring round will be initiated at the beginning of May. • The assessments should be provided on-line by the countries in May-June 2008 • The evaluations should be provided by Eurostat in July-August 2008. • The compliance monitoring should be finalised in September 2008.
