  3. What is the “lame duck” period? This is the period that begins with election day, when the voters have elected a new person and the old person is still in office. It ends on inauguration day, when the new person takes office.

  5. What do liberals believe? They think it’s the government’s job to find solutions to the problems of life, they accept increased government regulation of life and business, gradual change, not a revolution.

  7. What do radicals believe in? They believe drastic and extreme changes must occur now. The Radical Left and Radical Right all want extreme changes, but the changes each calls for is different.

  9. What does the Radical Left believe? Usually very socialist. Poverty, race relations and unequal opportunity cannot be solved through the free-market system. Government must step in to solve these market failures.

  11. What does the Radical Right believe? They denounce most forms of government regulation on business and life, including the idea of progressive taxation. They are staunch capitalists and think businesses should be allowed to act without government intervention.

  13. What are primaries? Each state holds an election prior to election day, for those candidates, where the parties select their candidate for the general election. The first one is New Hampshire and begins the primary season in politics.

  23. What is voter registration? People who want to vote, must first register with the board of elections. Congress passed the Motor Voter laws, which required states provide voter registration forms at all state offices…made absolutely no difference in the number of people who voted.
