What is a blog? • Blog is short for weblog, a journal (or newsletter) • Bloggers post their personal thoughts, comments, and philosophies. • The activity of updating is called “blogging” and the author is called the “blogger.”
What is a wiki? • A wiki is a website where users can add, remove, and edit every page using a web browser. • It's easy for people to jump in and revise pages • It is becoming known as the tool of choice for large, multiple-participant projects.
How are they different? Blogs • Single author • Author posts, user comments • Opinion Sharing • One-to-many content Wikis • Many authors • Edited by a group or team • Continuously changing and growing rapidly • Many-to-many communication
Rule #1 No personal information. (phone numbers, addresses, credit card numbers)
Rule #2 Do not use any language that could be interpreted as mean to others.
Rule #3 Never disrespect someone else in your blog.
Rule #4 Make sure things you write about are factual. Don't be posting about things that aren't true.
Rule #5 Please remember to give credit to and cite your sources. Failure to do so is plagiarism.
