Seminars why? The IAPCO members needed training for their staff. The first ideas were presented in 1972 for the members only. When it started in 1975 it was enlarged to cover participation from all segments of the industry.
Objective Establish and maintain standards on training
From then: • 33 International Annual Seminars • More then 1.700 participants from 5 continents representing all the segments of the meeting industry • 6 International Forums in Brussels • 4 Advanced Management Courses • The IAPCO/AACVB Joint seminars in Asia • National, regional, tailor-made and advance seminars all over the world
This Seminar: Aims The format of the Seminar is re-freshed every year with the feedback from the last year participants. The seminar provides a tool to exercise reality of the meetings industry. We are perhaps not the best educators but active professionals in the various sectors of the business.
This Seminar: Aims IAPCO Seminars are not only training but also point to: • Friendship • Networking • Observe other players in the industry and their role • Introduce new techniques and technology
Programme We have chosen the topics for this programme taking into consideration the basic structure to run a successful international congress.
Place • Central located with good international connections • Easy access • Good internal facilities • (Meeting rooms/Hotel/F&B/IT/Health club)
Date • Set the dates for long term • Choose a date that doesn’t conflict with other dates in the industry • Minimum of 4 days
Program • Specific topics to improve the daily work and to deliver better service to our clients • The subjects have to be basic • Format has to have: • plenary of 45 minutes, 30 minutes speech, 15 minutes questions • working groups • workshops • presentations
Program • When preparing the program take in consideration: • Balance between business and pleasure • People loose concentration after 45 min. • Maximum of 50 to 60 participants
Speakers Try to have a mix of: 70% presentations by members 30% invited speakers Rotate every year, 10% of new speakers
Evaluation • Do participants surveys on: • content • quality of the speaker • importance of the subject • Be open and transparent
