Sport Influence on Society • Marketing of Products (Clothing/ equipment) • Video Games • TV Shows
Connection between athletes and new media. • Video games (Interactive games – Kinect) • Influence on social media. (Fanbase) - Twitter - Facebook • Discovery of new talent via Youtube.
Video Games • Communication between the human and game. • Creates the feeling “you are the athlete”. • Interactive user feedback • Very responsive • Lots of features (Voice recognition) • Make user feel as if they truly are a celebrity - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQZgGtMeXXU
Twitter • Easy outlet for Players to communicate with fans • #GameChange -Fans prefer getting sports info from social media
Negatives • Any problems within the athlete, can ruin his / her career. • Can also ruin company image if he / she is supporting one.
Twitter Video • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfcs49aP-BY
My opinion • Video game development is drastically increasing and becoming more user interactive. • Policies should be used by sport organizations to prevent social media scandals.
