Ezra: The Scribe • Priest and Scribe • In charge of choosing judges and magistrates • Dream – to purify Holy Land • Found – priests marrying pagan women
Ezra: the Scribe • Very persuasive • Taught the people the Law • Became moral leader • This is when the Judaism of Jesus’ day was born • Ezra –Father of Judaism

Nehemiah • Hypocrisy –greatest problem • Practiced slavery, but gave to the temple • Rich people giving little to Temple • Offering worst of their flocks • Nehemiah and Malachi speak out • Main message • Get rid of all sin to prepare for the Messiah • God wants righteousness/not “sacrifices”
