Applications by the Numbers In 2009-2010, >80 EES related faculty advertisements 42 of 50 US States 3 countries: Singapore, Norway, Canada Private, Public, R1, R2, R3, PUIs 50-300 … applicants per position 8-15 … applicants for telephone interview 2-5 … applicants for onsite visit 0-1 … applicant offered position

  9. Ladner search process • Applied to 15 schools • Two and a half (and a canceled) interview trips • Three phone interviews • Two offers • One job

Interesting Notes / Lessons Learned • The two schools where I interviewed were places where I had previous face-to-face interaction with the chair. • I was not the first choice at either of the schools from whom offers were received. • I should have prepared better for phone interviews. • I should have been more interested (truly interested) in others’ work.
