reviewing key terms • On your handout you will see a set of definitions for key terms which have cropped up in your recent reading of the course text. • Work in pairs to see if you can come up with the appropriate terms to fit these. • If you get stuck, turn over the page for a prompt.
Etma 03: overview • Due in by 21st May • 1,500-2,000 words • Resources: • Chapters 5 & 7 of Book 1 (though main focus is on Bk 2) • Chapters 1-3 of Book 2 • Sections 4, 6 & 10 of the Methods & Skills Handbook • Reading A in the Methods & Skills Handbook • Feedback from TMA 01 and 02 • Option 1: With the use of examples, discuss the value of transactional models for explaining the development of behaviour and emotional difficulties in childhood. • Option 2: If you were writing a book on ‘good parenting’ for first-time parents, what would you identify as the most important pieces of advice and why would you choose these?
Etma 03: exercise • Decide whether you are going to look at Option 1 or 2 and group up with others who are interested in the same option. • Consider what the main parts of your essay question are and write these down as separate headings. • Now list everything you can think of that may go under each heading – research, theory, everyday examples etc. • Consider how you could develop on each of these from a critical perspective.
