  1. Summay of the tau mini-workshop in Heidelberg Sylvie Brunet ATLAS-DESY meeting, 18/04/2008

  2. Goals Give you a short overview of the tau mini-workshop we had at the beginning of the week… Give you an idea on what the German groups are doing, related to taus… PS: Nothing too detailed here… If interested in the subject, please ask questions or check the related talks!

  3. Technical details (I) • Held in Heidelberg, April 14 (pm) -15 (all day) 2008 • Followed the initiative started in Bonn last autumn “informal workshop”, goal is to encourage and ease collaboration between German groups working on taus

  4. Technical details (II) ~20 Participants from Heidelberg, Bonn, Dresden, Freiburg and DESY • 7 people were representing DESY: Philip, David, Björn, Sebastian, Michael, Dörthe and myself • Schedule and talks can be found there: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=32070  11 talks (6 from DESY!)  Lots of time for discussion Big Subjects: • Tau Reconstruction and Identification • Physics Analyses WithTaus • Coordination & Plans

  5. Next slides:What are people working on…… or are interested in…

  6. What are people working on…… or are interested in… Heidelberg (recently involved) • Separation of tau decay modes (see Michel Janus’ talk) • Interested in Z->tautau studies (collaboration with DESY foreseen) • Interested in SUSY analyses with taus • Interested in working on improving the track fitting in taus

  7. What are people working on…… or are interested in… Bonn (quite advanced analyses) • Separation of tau decay modes (see Robindra Prabhu’s talk) • SUSY endpoint analysis • Tau polarization in SUSY decay chains (see Till Nattermann’s talk) • RTT tests for the TauRec package

  8. What are people working on…… or are interested in… Dresden (Wolfgang Mader, one of the ATLAS tauWG conveners was present – very useful!) • Higgs studies • Background studies

  9. What are people working on…… or are interested in… Freiburg (core development, advanced analyses) • Tau reconstruction and Identification (core development) (see Stan Lai’s talk) • Higgs studies (see Susanne Kuehn’s talk) • AtlFast studies • NN

  10. What are people working on…… or are interested in… DESY-Hamburg (more and more advanced stuff!) • Z-> tautau (see Sebastian’s talk) • Fake rate studies from dijet events • Performance studies (see Björn’s talk) • Gamma conversions in taus (see Michael’s talk) • SUSY with taus (see Dörthe’s talk) • TauDPDMaker, Common ntuple production & FDR-1 studies (see David & Sylvie’s talks) • Interested to collaborate with Freiburg for tau reco & ID

  11. Outcome (I) • Quite intense (short time, lots of stuff!)! • Nice talks • Useful discussions • Came back on last workshop to-do list • Nice communication among the groups, very friendly * Success ! *

  12. Outcome (II) • Even found time for nice dinner & drinks!

  13. Will never (or at least try to) complain again about DESY Kantine! Unexpected Outcome Wisdom !!!

  14. Future Will meet again in Dresden for the ATLAS Tau Workshop (not only German groups) May 14-16 http://iktp.tu-dresden.de/ATLAS-Tau-Workshop/
