  5. Planning Your Plan • Where are you and why are you there? • Where do you want to be and how do you get there? • What’s driving you? • What skills and qualities do others possess? • Can you honestly eliminate the idea of entitlement?

  7. Positioning Yourself on the Ladder • Volunteer for assignments, willingly • Highlight a problem/bring solutions • Be nice to people • Prioritize your work • Stay positive • Be a leader • Generate ideas • Be willing to work hard

  9. What Can You Do for Your Professional Association and What Can They Do for You? • Networking – find a mentor or colleague • Get involved in all levels • Find areas of interest and skill • Do this for real – it’s not just for you

What Can You Do When You Get Back On Campus? • Learn all/most aspects of the office • Learn ins and outs of partner operations • Get to know faculty and staff • Become involved and visible on campus • Read • Perfect the balance of work and home • Be a team player – no matter what • Become involved in professional associations • Believe in yourself
