Analysis Tools Breakout Session • Identified four groups of tools • Pulsars—lift existing tools. Applicable to binaries? • GRBs—applicable to both GBM & LAT. Treat LAT data in limit where burst is signal above definable background • Catalog comparison—need to quantify confidence • Likelihood tool—“Swiss knife” for fitting source parameters, source detections, upper limits, etc. • Many tools need to be split into separate tools • Verifying a pulsar ephemeris and searching for P, P-dot • Barycentric corrections and phase assignments • Binary and pulsar periods? • Testing • Challenge tools with simulated data, EGRET data • Formal data challenges • Document testing
Analysis Tools, cont. • Available human resources identified • Requirements need more work for the September review. There was little detailed discussion of specifics. The interfaces need to be defined clearly. • Requirements editors assigned • Likelihood—Pat Nolan • Pulsars—Masa Hirayama • Catalog comparison—Isabelle Grenier • GRBs—David Band
