  3. New Orleans to New York • This story begins in New Orleans, 1984 and continues to move to April 2013. • From the “Big Easy to the “Big Apple”

  4. Goals, Passions, Hobbies & Plans

  5. 1984 • While attending graduate school at Loyola University in New Orleans, I met my wife at church. She was attending Tulane University as a junior from Conn College. Sue hits on the guitar player in church….. the rest is history

  6. Summer of 1985 • Sue was heading back to NY to finish her senior year at Conn College • John still had another 1 ½ years • What was our plan at that time? • We committed to figuring something out, but were unsure what would unfold…….

  7. March 1987 • Sue was working in Fort Lee, NJ • John lined up interviews in NYC – thanks to an uncle you hooked me up with some contacts.

  8. Hired! Starting April 1 • I only had a few weeks until D Day! • Bear Sterns – First “real” job out of school • My brother had friend with a vacancy • Move in time - May 1 • Month of April – Roach Motel Okay, I can deal with this for 30 days!

  9. Fast – Forward 1992 • Received a call from a friend of my brother • Proposed the Unishippers franchise opportunity

  10. 1993 - 2009

  11. 2009 / 2010 • Began my search for a Doctoral Program

  12. 2013 - Future

  13. Reflections • 10,000 hours: Work, Family & Passions • Leadership skills: Discipline, Determination, Educated Risk, Adventure • Time & Opportunity made this possible • Mutual Accountability – John & Sue • Goals don’t always happen on your timetable but keep them moving.
