Australian Communities Defined: The Issues, the Challenges, and the Trends
This presentation was featured at the Australian Communities Forum 2013 on 1 November 2013. The Australian community has been transformed in a generation. We are bigger than ever, our population having doubled to 23 million since 1966, more culturally diverse than ever, with 46% of households having one or both parents born overseas, and moving through a time of massive demographic and social change, from our ongoing record baby boom, to our ageing population, to the emergence of Generations Y and Z. In this presentation, Mark delivered an analysis of the current realities, identified the key emerging trends and painted a picture of the future for Australian communities. Mark also paints a picture of effective community engagement - from Awareness, Affinity, and Activity.
