What is Ammo? • Ammo may be called military munitions, munitions, bombs, rockets, grenades, ordnance, duds or bullets. • UXO stands for Unexploded Ordnance • UXO is ammo that did not explode “go off” when used • Some people call UXO duds 3
Ammo (munitions) may: • Not look like ammo (bullets, bombs or rockets)! • Look harmless, but it is still dangerous! • If you think you see something that might be ammo, do not: • Go near it • Touch, move or disturb it 5

Ammo may be hard to recognize • Ammo may: • Look: • New • Like ammo • Like something else • Be shiny or rusty • Be clean or dirty • Be covered with leaves, branches or dirt • Be in the water 7
Ammo is dangerous, no matter how old it is • Ammo kept as a souvenir is also dangerous, even if it has been handled for years Remember, if you did not drop it, do not pick it up 9
If you see or come upon something that may be ammo, do not: • Go near it • Touch, move or disturb it • Carefully leave the area by the same path • Be safe, if you do not know what it is, do not touch it 10
Once you are safe, tell a parent or a teacher that you think you may have seen ammo. Ask them to call the police. Call 9-1-1 11
