  2. “Remembering the Samaritan woman at the well (John4:4-26), Christ delivers his invitation at each person’s most apparent and greatest need IMPACT gives an organization the opportunity to provide an invitation. As a community of faith, we need to be like Christ and meet people where they are in life.

  3. Homeless and Crisis Shelters Most Homeless and Crisis Shelters maintain a list of items they need for the people they serve Shelters ultimately receive donated items on their lists, however: They do not receive appropriate items for transient people or people in crisis They receive used clothing when they need soap or hygiene related products They do not receive sheets and blankets in sizes appropriate for shelter beds They receive too much of one thing, nothing of another

  4. Charitable Businesses, Faith Based Organizations and Missions Most businesses and organizations prepare kits for international or disaster relief as needed. Some prepare limited kits for school aged children or specific projects.

  5. An Opportunity Most Shelters or Crisis Centers do not have sufficient staffing to assemble specific “kits” The Solution: Call Businesses & Organizations to ACTION Coordinate staff and volunteer resources to pre-assemble kits for overwhelmed shelters Creative Collaboration Providing efficient stewardship of resources

Creating We talked to Shelters, Schools and Crisis Centers… … and with their help, designed the kits Light of Life Rescue Mission Having specific kits in place enables faith based organizations to TARGET resources and efforts to create a meaningful IMPACT LIVING Ministry Pleasant Valley Salvation Army

  7. Inspiration for The IMPACT concept was derived from UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief UMCOR coordinates kits for global missions and disaster relief.

  9. Sample Kits … and with their help, designed the kits Most items can be obtained from the travel bin sections of Dollar stores, Target, Kmart and Wal-Mart All kits should be appropriately labeled and packaged in re-sealable, clear plastic bags All items must be NEW!!!

  10. Personal Hygiene • Toothbrush w/ Protective Head Cover • 4 or 5 Pack Disposable Razors • 4 or 5 Pack Band-Aids • Lip Balm (Chapstick) • Comb • 1 TRAVEL SIZE Package of Each (2-3 oz./small): • Disposable Wipes • Hand Sanitizer • Shave cream • Deodorant • Toothpaste • Body Wash • Shampoo

  11. Personal Hygiene • You can customize hygiene kits for Women’s shelters by ADDING: • Travel pack (8-12) of personal, feminine hygiene products • Travel size face lotion

  12. Underwear Each kit should be labeled “Men’s” or “Women’s” along with one of the following pre-coordinated sizes: Medium, Large or XL MEN’S • 1 - T-Shirt • 1 - Pair Briefs • 1 - Pair Socks (athletic or winter) To customize for WOMEN, substitute • Sport Bra (for t-Shirt)

Infant Care • 12 – Disposable or Cloth Diapers • 2 - Diaper Pins (if cloth diapers provided) • 2 - Shirts or One-Piece Body Suits • 1 - Sweater (open in the front) • 2 - Gowns or Sleepers • 2 - Receiving Blankets • 2 - Baby Washcloths • 1 - Baby Shampoo (Travel Size) • 1 - Baby Powder (Travel Size) • 1 - Baby Lotion (Travel Size) • 1 - Baby Wipes (Travel Size)

School and Learning 3 - Pads (or loose leaf) 8 ½” x 11” Ruled Paper 6 - Unsharpened Pencils with Erasers 1 - Pad Drawing Paper (unlined) 1 - Hand Held Pencil Sharpener 1 - Pair of Blunt Scissors (rounded tip) 1 - Box of 24 Crayons (only 24) 1 - 30 Centimeter Ruler 1 - Eraser (2 ½ Inch) 1 - Glue Stick

  15. Bedding • Standard TWIN Sheet Set which includes: • 1 – Twin fitted sheet • 1 – Twin top sheet • 1 – Standard pillow case Gently used and laundered twin size blankets, comforters, pillows and pillow cases are also needed

  17. Who Can Use IMPACT, can be utilized by any business, school, church or charitable oriented group or organization We invite everyone to adopt this concept of mission resource stewardship ACT NOW toIMPACT the homeless and underprivileged in our society

Resources Mission Vision can provide the resources you need to utilize this program and make a difference in the greater Pittsburgh community We will set up drop off points at the Salvation Army, Light of Life, Northside Common Ministries, New Hope & Living Ministries.
