  2. Aim • Briefly review group treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). • Relevance • Though not formally endorsed, group treatment is frequently used in healthcare settings, including VA, where prevalence of PTSD is relatively high.

  3. Methods • Review includes: • Description of group-based treatments for PTSD. • Available efficacy data on group treatments for PTSD.

  4. Results • Review indicates: • Group treatment for PTSD is efficacious compared with no treatment. • Specific types of treatment are not efficacious compared with nonspecific group treatment (e.g., psychoeducation or supportive counseling).

  5. Conclusions • Recommendations for practice and research are made in light of available literature.
