Pilot Project on Community-Based Coco Coir Processing

This pilot project in Hernani focuses on coco coir processing to empower agrarian reform beneficiaries. The project, initiated in 2003, provides equipment, training, and resources to produce coconut husk fiber, contributing to poverty alleviation. With strong support from LGUs and agencies, the project has shown promising results with significant sales and positive impact on the natural resource base. The collaboration between SMEs, LGUs, and academia in training, technical assistance, and monitoring ensures the project's success in enhancing community livelihoods and sustainability practices.
