  2. Purpose • Meet, listen and learn • Develop a thorough understanding of the strengths and challenges of the school district: • Core business of teaching and learning • Business systems • Culture • Partnerships

  3. Increase Student Achievement • “Meet, Listen and Learn” • Initiated development of K-12 core curricula for math and science with the assistance of the Dana Center. • Aligned Professional Development with the District Corrective Action Order and the Aligned Instructional System. • Focus on data that will analyze student achievement patterns.

  4. Increase the Effectiveness & Efficiency of the Business Systems • “Meet, Listen and Learn” • Broad Foundation consultants – central office organization, HR restructuring & information technology • Creation of the Blue Ribbon Task Force to secure local/national human capital and fiscal support • Focus business systems on student achievement

  5. Establish a Supportive, Positive District Climate & Culture • “Meet, Listen and Learn” • Meeting PPSD Team (central office, principals, teachers, support staff) • Clearly articulated expectations to focus on students. • Develop regular communications with PPSD, community, parents, elected officials and other partners

  6. Improve Public Trust and Confidence • “Meet, Listen and Learn” • Communicated a shared ownership of the district and validated the need for partnerships with PPSD. • Improved internal and external communications, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and transparency. • Reached out to colleges & university’s to establish positive working relationships.

  7. Work Collaboratively with all PPSD Unions to Prioritize Student Learning • “Meet, Listen and Learn” • Regular communication/meetings with all PPSD unions. • Progress on contract negotiations (i.e. TA, 1033, 1339, etc.) • PTU Bridge Contract – promote partnership through negotiations – long term goal is to move toward a “21st Century Contract”

Next Steps Use the achievements and successes to impact the following: • Remain Focused on Core Curriculum • Indentify opportunities to accelerate the development of a Core Curriculum • Align professional development with the District’s instructional system • Secure necessary material to support implementation of core curriculum (i.e. textbooks, professional development, instructional support). • Organizational Restructuring • Central Office • Human Resources • Student Registration • Increase District Funding • Human capital investments • Fiscal investments • Local/national foundations, higher education community, business community, etc.
