What is PEAT? • Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology • Cooperative agreement funded by DOL’s Office of Disability Employment Policy • A multi-faceted initiative to advance the employment of people with disabilities through the development, adoption and promotion of accessible technology • Solutions-oriented with a foundation in collaboration, dialogue and action www.peatworks.org

PEAT Policy Think Tank • Facilitates analysis, content development and leadership to support PEAT • Enlists relevant partners to identify trends, formulate policy recommendations and collaborate on relevant efforts • Leverages knowledge to produce materials to educate target audience and inform policymakers www.peatworks.org

PEAT Think Tank Activities • Online Job Applications • Looking into the state of accessibility of online talent management systems and user-facing online job applications • Establishing a PEAT Network initiative to convene leading developers on online talent management software in effort to make commonly used online job applications accessible • Developing policy recommendations to support the design and use of accessible online job applications www.peatworks.org

  8. PEAT Network • Works to inform accessible technology policymaking • Gives key stakeholders a voice in these efforts • Convenes relevant private and public sector partners and facilitates their collaboration on ad-hoc policy projects www.peatworks.org

PEAT Network Activities • “Accessible Technology in the Workplace” Summit hosted by WID & PEAT (Oct 2014) • Focused on promoting access to technology as an essential component of both employment and independence for individuals with disabilities • Attendees included more than 50 local business experts, HR/diversity practitioners, technology providers, industry associations, disability advocates and state and federal government representatives • ASAN-PEAT Online National Dialogue (Dec 2014) • Online, crowdsourcing event to engage public to provide recommendations about making web-based tools easier to use for workers with intellectual disabilities • 333 registrants, 42 total ideas, 132 comments and 343 votes www.peatworks.org
