Monster Description • My monster is over five stories tall. • His body is covered with light green shiny scales and pointy pink spikes. • He has three purple eyes, a wide nose covered with hairy warts, and shark-like teeth. • He has fairly small hands with long razor sharp claws and long legs and fat feet. • He looks really mean and scary.

5. How Do We Interpret Things Differently? Vinnie’s monster picture was different than mine. • He put the three eyes on top of each other but I put one on top and two underneath and one of his eyes had eyelashes. • He put five claws on each hand and I only put three. • He had a lot more pink spikes on his monster than I did on mine. • His monster’s feet were kind of round and my were kind of pointy. • My monster had ears and his didn’t. • My monster had a lot more scales than his did. • My monster had white teeth and his had yellow.

6. What I Learned • I learned that words can paint a picture in your mind and everyone sees a different picture. • I learned that if you want to communicate something exactly so someone else will understand, you need to be very careful about the words you choose and you shouldn’t leave anything out. • I learned that when you want to describe something you need to think about and use words that tell about size, color, shape, number, where it goes, and how it relates to other things. • I learned that even though we interpret things a little differently we also have many things in common.
