SCRAMBLE RULES Introduction: Whenever our QB is forced to scramble out of the pocket, each receiver must SPRINT to a predetermined area of the field right away, based on where they are on the field when the QB has to scramble. Receivers must work to get in the QB's field of vision and the QB must always know where the line of scrimmage is so as not to be past it when throwing the ball. Some of the biggest pass plays we have are the result of the execution of scramble rules.
SCRAMBLE RULES • The deep receiver to the side the QB scrambles should sprint to the back corner of the end zone. • The shallow receiver to the side of the scramble should run to the sideline and settle - preferably beyond the first down marker. • The deep receiver away from the side of the scramble - run to the goal post. • Backside receivers (shallow or mid-level depth) - cross the field at your depth and work to get in front of the QB's hand. • All receivers must be prepared to block for the QB if he decides to run - remember to only block in front of the ball. • Receivers should put their hands up when open to get the QB's attention. • Never give up on the play until the whistle is blown!
