Inter-MAG route optimizationdraft-dutta-netlmm-pmipro-01.txt • Title: Proxy-MIP Extension for Inter-MAG route optimization • Description: • There is a requirement to optimize the data path when LMA is far from MAG • This contribution describes a light weight route optimization technique that helps to optimize the media path between two communicating nodes when Proxy MIP is used as the mobility protocol. • It takes advantage of the data packet between LMA and MAG to set up the optimized data path between the communicating hosts. This route optimization technique is applicable to both the intra-LMA and inter-LMA scenarios. • Deployment/Standards Needs • In 3GPP2, there is an interest in “Call Localization”, to which this technique can be applied. Also, this technique would be useful for any 3GPP standards related deployment specifically in roaming environment
