| UNITED STATES BORDER PATROL (USBP) USBP is responsible for responding to all illegal traffic that crosses the border between the official Ports of Entry. | OFFICE OF FIELD OPERATIONS (OFO) OFO facilitates traffic through the official Ports of Entry. | AIR AND MARINE OPERATIONS (AMO) AMO provides aerial and marine support for CBP.
Detection technology has dramatically changed in recent years. The job of the Border Patrol is to detect and apprehend anyone crossing the border illegally between the ports of entry.
Despite the technology agents often spend long hours tracking people on foot. Enforcement operations can quickly turn into rescue operations in the sharp Arizona heat.
Every agent is a trained first responder. There are hundreds of Border Patrol EMTs throughout Southern Arizona. This year alone, Border Patrol has rescued over 4,000 people across the southwest.
A single group of 134 Central Americans surrendered to Border Patrol in Sasabe after walking around the west end of the pedestrian fencing. Approximately 10 hours later, another group of more than 30 people crossed at the same location.
