School Discipline • Student Responsibility & Discipline is an intricate component of the educational system. • The JM discipline policies and procedures provide for not only its students protection and well-being, but also their growth. • Please review the student discipline charts in your handbooks.
School Discipline • After-School Detention. (ASD) • On days of assigned ASD, the student is to report to the assigned room by 2:50 pm. ASD ends at 3:40pm • While in ASD students are NOT permitted to talk, pass notes, or sleep and must arrive with work to do or material to read. • Students absent on the day of assigned ASD, will serve on the first day they return to school. • Students failing to serve assigned ASD will be assigned Saturday Detention/ Out of School Suspension.
School Discipline • Lunch Detention • Students assigned lunch detention are to report directly to the front of the line to get their lunch. • Students may bring a “bag” lunch from home or purchase a “bag” lunch from the café. • As soon as the student has their lunch, they are to report directly to the Lunch detention Room. • Saturday Detention • Failure to report to SD will result in OSS being assigned. • Sat. Detention begins at 8:30am and ends at 11 am. • Transportation is the student’s/parent’s responsibility
School Discipline • Out of School • OSS may be assigned by any principal for a period of one to ten consecutive school days. • Students are responsible for all missed work and assignments during their OSS. • Students assigned OSS are NOT permitted on any school property or at any school related event during the period of suspension without the specific permission of a building principal • A court citation can accompany assigned OSS.
School Discipline • Social Probation (SP) • SP is the suspension of a student’s participation or involvement in any and all extra-curricular activities not required as part of the regular academic classroom teacher’s curriculum, such as sports, clubs, dances, ceremonies, etc. • SP can be assigned and removed at the building principals discretion and used in conjunction with other forms of school discipline.
