  5. Care of laptop at home • Store in case • Never flat on floor • Charge nightly for school the next day • Siblings loading software • Damage by heat and cold of car • Common causes of damage: • Stepping on it • Falling off bed • Spills

  6. Unsupported Software • What and why • You are responsible for software you load • School supports school-owned software • Conflicts with freeware and shareware • Sign agreement

Backing up at home • HH students use Dropbox to back up school work • Student is responsible for backing up personal items and providing adequate space for them. • No control over what is backed up and what is not if there is too much. • Additional free space for inviting others who install Dropbox.

  9. Cases • Protection • OK to personalize case with parent permission • NO writing, stickers, nail polish on tablet itself, especially keys or screen. • Warranty

  10. Summer Class • Required for new rising 9th – 12th graders • Covers e-mail, network access, backing up, printing, Moodle, Dropbox, software review • Necessity for good keyboarding

  11. Future Expenses • No software or loaner pool fees – included in tuition • Anything that shows evidence of extreme neglect or abuse • Lost laptop, AC adapter, pen, tether • Battery replacement depends on care

Accident Protection ThinkPad Protection • No fault accidental damage (not fire, theft, loss, cosmetic damage, earthquakes, floods, intentional) – no deductible, no limit – expires when warranty expires • Covers damage from drops, breaks, electrical surge, liquid spills, damage to screen, broken ac adapter
