Stronger Together Update • Day Programs: A ‘Pre-Qualification Process’ is currently underway for Eligibility to Provide the Life Choices and Active Ageing Programs. Information session 29 January (details will come via the portal) Closes 20 February 2009. Program guidelines are also open for comment. See DADHC website (www.dadhc.nsw.gov.au). • The Life Choices Program will provide flexible day options for people aged 25-54 with an emphasis on supporting adults to pursue their interests, maintain healthy lifestyles and build long term social and support networks. • The Active Ageing Program will support people 55 – 64 to maintain an active life by participating in meaningful leisure and social activities and will also focus on retirement planning and building and maintaining support networks.
Stronger Together Update cont. • Day Programs cont: • Due to anticipated growth in day program places over the coming months, and the need for the Region to start to look at a vacancy management system for block funded day programs, it is imperative that the Region commences the compilation of regional need for day programs in one place. • To that end, the DADHC Hunter IRI team has commenced the establishment of a day program need register. • Please encourage staff & clients to register need for a day program through telephoning the IRI team on telephone 4978 6222. • This includes all clients currently on service provider waiting lists.
Stronger Together Update cont. • RSAUP: • Work on the Regional Service Acquisition & Utilisation Plan (RSAUP) – the Regional accommodation plan - continues. The current focus is on the capital components of the Plan. • The accommodation service provider ‘Pre-Qualification Process’ is expected to be announced on 2 February 2009. Information sessions planned in Hunter for 23 & 24 February 2009. • It is imperative that any organisation interested in delivering a DADHC supported accommodation service over the coming 3 years complete the PQP process. Supported accommodation includes not only 24/7 group home accommodation, but also drop in support, temporary emergency response services, leaving care services etc.
Stronger Together Update cont. • Respite: Tender on website for Teen Time service in the Newcastle LGA. • DHASI: Tenders for the Region will be assessed in early February 2009.
HACC Update • Tenders panels for Open and Select Tenders for services in the 2008-2009 HACC plan are currently underway in all Regions with results anticipated to be announced in March-April 2009. • Direct allocation funding has been released to providers. • The HACC Triennial Plan and the Annual Supplement are now on DADHC web site. • If any HACC providers have a non recurrent need, please discuss this with your PQI Project Officer urgently as some non recurrent funding is currently available.
DSP Non Recurrent • A small amount of non recurrent funding is also being made available for CSTDA funded service providers in the Region. • The funding is for one-off equipment, service improvement, OHS issues and therapy resources, assessment tools and equipment. • A local submission/application form is currently being developed for organisations to complete. • Interested organisations should contact their PQI Project Officer to register their interest for a form to be forwarded later in the month when complete.
DADHC Day Programs • Re-auspice completed for DADHC Cessnock and Newcastle Day Programs • Challenge Disability Services were the successful provider. They commenced operation on 15 December 2008 • A date is soon to be advised for the re-auspice of Long Jetty and Wyoming Day Programs.
Performance, Quality & Improvement • Integrated Monitoring Framework - reviews will continue throughout 2009. Currently 110/119 Organisations completed. • MDS continues to be an issue with 282 outlets not reporting. Training for NGOs will be provided early in 2009. • Acquittals: There are only 3 outstanding acquittals in Hunter. F&AU are currently working on new acquittals guidelines.
Performance, Quality & Improvement • In 2009 DADHC will be rolling out the new Quality Framework. This is likely to be included under the current Integrated Monitoring Framework which will still also be used to measure compliance.
