Anxiety disorders Obsessive Compulsive Disorder • A young woman is continuously terrified by the thought that cars might careen onto the sidewalk and run her over. She always walks as far from the street pavement as possible and always wears red clothing to be visible immediately to an out-of-control car. • A mother is tormented by the concern that she might inadvertently contaminate food as she cooks for her family. Everyday she sterilizes all cooking utensils in boiling water, scours every pot and pan before placing food in it, and wears rubber gloves while handling the food.
