2. About the Book My reason for doing business has always been to be of help to others and more often than not I get helped whether I ask for it or not. This journey of helping others has benefitted me greatly and I hope I can provide you an opportunity to be of help to a generation. I came to realize that people both old and young loved to listen to my experiences on the businesses my team and I ran and how we did it. At times, I could go on talking for hours without getting tired. At seminars, conferences and lecture events I had to practice a lot of self control to keep to time until it occurred to me; that I could put my experiences down in print so people could have them, read them, learn from them and hopefully, the proceeds from its sale would pay for an MBA degree. But now on a scholarship provided by a Roland Berger/ADC partnership, which was given me as a result of my business exploits, I intend to contribute to Entrepreneurial Development of today’s youth. This book contains my numerous encounters in the world of entrepreneurship as a young chap with a burning passion for positive enterprise. It’s not a theoretical piece but a practical experience with major highlights on what has been done at SLM Services where I’m CEO. How I started with lecture note delivery and ventured into other enterprise such as IT training marketing, Pizza and Shawarma production, Food delivery, an Investment club, a clothing company, a raffle draw firm, a printing, packaging and branding firm to mention a few. The Need for the Book Nigeria is burdened with an increasing unemployment rate problem, a tougher economic climate that requires unusual thinking and acting capacity thrive effectively, education is seen by today’s youth as a process that prepares them to be used by society rather than one that prepares them to be useful for society . Entrepreneurship teaches one major thing; you only get paid for the value you bring to the market place. Value creation is the essence of entrepreneurship. It is enhanced by education and personal determination to succeed. On a daily basis, people get lots of ideas but the problem lies in what to do with these ideas. This book would help anyone out with harvesting ideas, nurturing them, keeping the ideas coming and hopefully provide a useful guide on how to creatively finance the ideas through my experiences. The Book Launch The book launch aims to raise funds that would facilitate the distribution of the books to youths in Secondary schools and Universities that need to be made aware of the need for them to be entrepreneurially minded and provide online support to ensure their growth and sustained development. . The amount raised would be used by SLM Entrepreneurship Project to organise awareness campaigns in schools and other institutions of learning within major Nigerian and hopefully a few West African cities to sensitize the youth on the need to be entrepreneurially minded and make copies of the book available to them at subsidized rates.
