  2. 100 An old-fashioned bathtub weighs 236 pounds. A gallon of water weighs 8.33 pounds. Write a variable expression to find the weight of the tub and w gallons of water.

  3. 200 Tickets for a concert are $25 each. You also have to pay a handling fee of $3 per ticket. Write and evaluate a variable expression to find the total cost of purchasing 8 tickets.

  4. 300 An attendant at a snack bar makes a $1 commission for every bottle of juice he sells and $1.50 commission for every hamburger that he sells. Write a variable expression to find the total amount of commission that he makes selling j juice bottles and h hamburgers. Find his commission for selling 5 bottles of juice and 3 hamburgers.

  5. 400 A waitress receives a wage of $4.50 an hour plus she earns tips. Write a variable expression to find how much money she earns for h hours of work with t dollars in tips. Then, find out how much money she earned in one night when she worked 7 hours and earned $45 in tips.

  6. 500 A group of friends want to go to a movie and to the zoo. A ticket to the zoo costs $7.50 and a ticket to the movie costs $5.50. Write a variable expression to find the total cost of z zoo tickets and m movie tickets. Find the total cost if all 12 of the friends go to the movie but only 9 go to the zoo.
