Blend in when you need to, stand out when you have a chance • Create a classroom that accepts and embraces diversity • Help students feel empowered • Make a difference • Be true to you!
Find your own way—you don’t have to follow the crowd • Let students be individuals • Everyone has strengths—find a way to share your own strengths • Encourage celebrations • Provide choices in how to present knowledge
Know when to speak; know when to listen • Let experts be experts • Know there is a team • Be willing to try new things • Allow for processing and wait time • Foster opportunities to share • Create equal opportunities
If you make a wrong turn, circle back • Don’t give up • Admit mistakes • Learn something new
If something gets in your way, move around it • There will be obstacles, but keep going • Think outside the box • Use your resources
Set aside some quiet time to relax and reflect every day Ask the following questions: • How did things go today? • What could I have done different? • What can I change for tomorrow?
