  2. Always be on the lookout for a new friend • Varying abilities (social and academic) • Level of support • New colleagues • Utilize resources

  3. Look for beauty wherever you are • Think about positives • Find the good • Provide Opportunities to share • Allow students to take ownership in success

  4. Blend in when you need to, stand out when you have a chance • Create a classroom that accepts and embraces diversity • Help students feel empowered • Make a difference • Be true to you!

  5. Find your own way—you don’t have to follow the crowd • Let students be individuals • Everyone has strengths—find a way to share your own strengths • Encourage celebrations • Provide choices in how to present knowledge

  6. Know when to speak; know when to listen • Let experts be experts • Know there is a team • Be willing to try new things • Allow for processing and wait time • Foster opportunities to share • Create equal opportunities

  7. If you make a wrong turn, circle back • Don’t give up • Admit mistakes • Learn something new

  8. If something gets in your way, move around it • There will be obstacles, but keep going • Think outside the box • Use your resources

  9. Set aside some quiet time to relax and reflect every day Ask the following questions: • How did things go today? • What could I have done different? • What can I change for tomorrow?

  10. Appreciate art ENJOY THE VARIETY LIFE HAS TO OFFER!

  11. Make wishes on the stars in the nighttime sky • Dream big for your students, families, and for yourself!

  12. How to make it happen? The question is not, “How can we fix a disability?” but “How can we make out classroom environment a place where all students can learn?” (Kirby, 2016)
