Citing Pictures Illustrations • Illustrations are directly embedded into the document, as close as possible to the parts of the text to which they relate. • Illustrations should be labeled Figure 1 • Abbreviated as Fig. 1 (no bold or italics) • This label appears twice: • In your paper. Example: (see Fig. 1) • In the caption. Example: Fig. 1 • Caption appears directly below the illustration • Provides titles or explanatory notes
