DO NOW: • What are the colors of the rainbow? (in order)
Visible Light*White light seen through a glass prism Key: ROY G BIV Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet
Energy • All energy travels in waves. • Waves are like signals
Wavelength and Amplitude • Wavelength- The distance between each wave. Amplitude- The height of a wave.
Frequency Frequency- How many waves per second.

Exit ticket • How is the electromagnetic spectrum organized? • In other words, what is the difference between x-rays, gamma rays, visible light and radio waves?
Do Now: • List at least 3 forms of electromagnetic radiation.
ABC Summarizer Think about the various topics covered this year in science. Use a term for each letter of the alphabet and write one sentence to show your knowledge of that term. A- Attraction (Opposite poles attract.) B- Batteries (Batteries can be an energy source.) C- Cell Membrane (It protects a cell.) etc…
DO NOW: • Define wavelength. • Define amplitude. • Define frequency.
HEAT • Conduction: Transfer of heat by direct contact of particle of matter. • Convection: The transfer of heat by movement of heated fluids.
What did we learn? • Waves travel in straight lines • Waves scatter when they hit particles in the atmosphere • Reflection – bouncing back • Refraction - Waves bend when they change medium (water, oil, prism) • Waves go through some materials and not others - Opaque, transparent, translucent • Fiber optics bend light and carries information
