Introduction • Before creating the course, identify the following: • Type of course: Live or Self paced • Is this course already published somewhere? • Can the videos be directly embedded? e.g.) Youtube • Need to download the course resources? e.g.) Udemy • You must have completed instructor checklist document(s) – If incomplete, there could be other ways to collate the information. Please discuss the way forward with team

A B C D E add user + instructor profile + associate instructor to the course Before proceeding, check if the user already exists in the system (individual may be already registered with us) • If the user already exists, move to step 7 • If user does not exist in the database, capture the information shared in the instructor / checklist team and start creating a new user as follows: • Username – enter the email id • Email – enter the email id • First name – enter the first name of the user. In case of middle name, mention it here only • Last name – enter the last name of the user • Password and Repeat password - enter ufaber123 • Check mark on the box which say “Send this password to the new user by email” • Change role to “Instructor” • Click on “Add new user” • Once added, click on the “Extended Profile” to write a short description about the author (copy paste from information shared in instructor checklist or linkedin page) • Now, setup a new course and associate the instructor to that course

  7. A B C D E Course title and URL • A course title shall have the following characteristics : • Simple English • 5 – 10 words • URL is automatically built once you enter the course title. You can edit it to ensure that it contains the SEO keyword • Insert an appropriate course image

A B C D E Course Description (1/3) • About the course – • 50-100 words paragraph including the objective of the course, • Course highlights (3 -5 single line bullet points which can be) - • How this course can help someone in their professional life? • e.g.) This course includes advice about getting a job • How successful has this course been so far? • e.g.) Trained2000+ professionals across the globe • Profile and experience of the instructor • e.g.) Learn from industry veteran; Instrumental in building a team of 350+ mobile developers for Accenture India • Leading questions which point towards the need for this course • e.g.) How to orchestrate a complete digital marketing campaign? • Course pedagogy • e.g.) 72 lectures, over 15+ hours; industry case studies, real life projects

A B C D E Course Description (2/3) • Course benefits (bullets) – • One line bullets on what students will learn from this course • Who should enroll? • Target audience for the course; mention the specific needs covered for the audience group • e.g.) Entrepreneurs and business owners : Its always most difficult to get your first 100 customers. The internet open up gates for several B2C business ideas wanting to make mark. Their single mode of marketing sales and transaction depend on traction and the correct digital strategy that drives that traction. This one workshop will save you several blunders you wish you never make • Pre requisites • What is the level of this course (Appropriate for all, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced)? • What is the recommended background for this course? • Are there any reference material?

  11. A B C D E SEO • Choose 2 -3 word focus keywords which is occurs multiple times in the course page • Let the SEO title be the default • Keep the meta description same as the excerpt but ensure it contains the “keywords”

A B C D E Course Detail / Snippet + Course duration + number of students + Excerpt • Course detail – • For self paced courses mention self paced, total number of lectures, total hours etc. , • e.g.) 72 lectures | Over 15+ hours; • For live classes mention the live lectures, lecture days, lecture times, labs, certification etc. • e.g.) 4 weeks | Live online lectures every Saturday |10:00 AM to 1:00 PM IST • Course duration – Enter 9999 • Number of students – Enter a dummy number • Excerpt - Enter a short summary ( ~20 words) of the course • e.g.) Learn to program using the Java programming language. The best and most popular course on Java for beginners.

  13. A B C D E FAQs + Reviews + Instructor Description + DEMO • FAQs – Refer this page for sample (yet detailed) FAQs. Emulate such FAQs for the respective course • Reviews – Write a review about the course and the instructor. Suggest some improvements (if possible). Do not write generic statements about the website. • Instructor description – Write the same description as mentioned in the Instructor page • DEMO (Relevant for live courses only) – Discuss if there is a sample lecture recording available which can be used

  14. A B C D E Create a Product and Associate the Product In case of free courses, there is no need to create a product. Just click on the “Free course” button • Create a product with title exactly the same name as that of the course. • Associate the course to the product on the course page. • Keep subscription duration as 9999 • Keep product category as Basic and product data as Virtual • Write the pricing as mentioned in the email for the course • Associate the product to the course. (You must publish the course before it appears in the drop down list)

Download the course resources (1/2) • In case of live programs, no course resources are resources are required to downloaded except when there are certain pre reads and assignments • In case of self paced courses (curated), if videos are already there on youtube or other website, then you do not need to download /upload them; just directly copy-paste the embed link • In case of self paced courses (non-curated), discuss how to obtain course resources (if available, keep the course resources link with you as shared in the instructor checklist) • Create a folder structure (same as course curriculum) for the course • Download the right resources in the right folders (if possible, use download managers for faster and queued downloads) • Name resources appropriately (if the name of the resource is not similar to that of the unit to which it belongs) • Double check if all the resources are completely downloaded and arranged in proper folder structure

  17. A B C D E D. Upload the course resources • You can directly upload the videos on our VIMEO server. Following are the preparatory steps: • Keep the videos ready on your computer with names similar to that of units (as mentioned in the curriculum table) • Install a ftp client (FileZilla – Free software or any other you are comfortable with)https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client • Keep the upload credentials handy which we shall mail you. These shall be used to connect to our VIMEO server. They expire after 48 hours from time of generation. Attached is a sample

  19. A B C D E • Enter the upload credentials in the ftp client and click on quickconnect • Leave the “PORT” as blank. • Once connected, you shall see a status “Directory listing successful” in the window just below where you entered the credentials

  20. A B C D E • In the “local site” window, locate the video folder, right click and upload • If required, go to the “View” menu and click “Refresh view” to update the folders

A B C D E • Create sections, units and add to the course • Most important thing is to ensure that curriculum structure and resource tagging is error free • Double check if required • Ensure formatting as mentioned in the “Important pointers – Formatting basics” • Once, sections are created, created the units • After units are created, add them to the course curriculum and then re-arrange as required
