  1. Vocab. Warm-up, List 13 1/15/14 Using at least 5 of your 10 words, write a paragraph using a specific tone. Tone is the author’s attitude toward his subject: lonely, angry, excited, neutral, passionate, etc. Be sure to identify your tone(s) and underline/highlight your words in the sentences.

  2. Example: Sometimes as a teacher, it is hard to be a philanthropist. I occasionally have students that I’d like to oust from my room. It’s not that I’m a misanthrope, but some teenagers are immature and noisome. Managing a classroom of diverse students involves enticing them to behave. Otherwise they may stage a coup and think they run the class. I hoard good lesson plan ideas and cloister myself away to prepare for my classes. In the face of a tough class, I will not languish. I will be victorious! Tones: Frustration, determination, triumph
