How did you get here? • Career choice? • Pharmacy school? • Professional practice position(s)? • Current practice?
Random versus Intentional • Although it may feel that you arrived here in a random fashion, who you are, how you think, feel, perceive, work, “do what you do” is a result of how you are “hardwired.” • You may not have chosen pharmacy deliberately, but being in this profession is not completely by chance.
Self-Awareness • The ability to examine and reflect on personal knowledge, skills, abilities, beliefs, biases, motivation, and emotions that could enhance or limit personal and professional growth
How Self-Aware are You? • Take a blank piece of paper and answer the following question: • On a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being lowest and 5 being highest, how would you rate your CURRENT self-awareness? • Why did you rate yourself at that level?
Why Reflect? • Action: • Reflection enables you to focus your thoughts and discover what you are actually thinking and feeling. • Application: • It’s all about what you are learning from your experiences and how you can use them to develop.
