Why do we need a technology plan? • A technology use plan provides: • A list of team members • Goals and objectives • Planning strategies • Budget
Team Members It takes a team to develop a technology use plan. The team should include: • Principal • Media Specialist (district level) • Media Specialist (school level) • Classroom teachers • Specialists (PE, Music, Library, ect.) • Parents
The Process • Develop a team • Meet as a group to identity the needs. • Define vision, goals, and objectives • Formalize the plan • Implement, evaluate, and revision. Step 5 Step 5 is always changing.
Vision Statement Chawanakee School District Technology Use Plan vision statement. Our vision is to have teachers and students utilize computers and educational technology as a natural part of learning and teaching. A basic belief in adopting this plan is that students will need to have the ability and skills to utilize current technology as they learn and contribute to the world in which they live. Effectively incorporating educational technology in the learning programs and activities of Chawanakee Unified School District students enhances their opportunities to become well prepared for an increasinglycomplex and technological society.
Goals and Objectives Sample goals from Chawanakee Unified School District Technology Use Plan 1st Grade • Demonstrate skills: computer, mouse, keyboard, commands• Demonstrate care and use of CD-Rom• Introduce word processing
Goals and Objectives Objective 1 of 2: District wide, 80% of Teachers will use the Edusoft program to evaluateincoming students’ scores from previous yearsEnd of year 1: 20% of teachers will use Edusoft to track student progressEnd of year 2: 40% of teachers will use Edusoft to track student progressEnd of year 3: 60% of teachers will use Edusoft to track student progressEnd of year 4: 70% of teachers will use Edusoft to track student progressEnd of year 5: 80% of teachers will use Edusoft to track student progress Evaluation Instrument(s): Data To Be Collected: Student Star test data results Schedule for Evaluation: Ongoing Program Analysis and Modification Process Principals will initiate

Staff Development • One to two staff in service training a quarter. • Mentor teachers • Collaboration • Workshops (take as a school)
Evaluation • Evaluate goals once a quarter. • Evaluate objectives once a school year. • Student and Parent surveys. • Staff surveys. • Visit other schools
