Lesson 1-What Do You Know? Do you know… the basics of creating a PowerPoint Presentation? • Can you select slide layouts? • Can you apply background designs to different slides ? Yes No
Where to begin-101 First, you must decide which slide layout you would like for your slides. You also must choose a background design. This is when you decide what your slides will look like. Each slide can be set up with a layout or background of your choice.
Using the Side Task Pane • If the side task bar is open on the right side, click below. Side Bar is Open Side Bar is not Open Side Bar is Open
To Open the Side Task Bar • If the side task bar is not open on the right side, go to the View button on the top task bar. • Click on the Task Pane choice to open it.
Go to Slide Layouts in the task pane Scroll through the choices for your Slide Layout. Click on a box in the Slide Layout task pane to choose a layout.
Choose your Slide Design • Click on the • next to the X in the Slide Layout title bar. • Go to the Slide Design-Design Templates option in the list.
When theSlide Designtask pane appears, scroll through the choices. • Click on the slide design of your choice to use as your Slide Show background.
Ready-Set-Go!PowerPoint 202 • Open a new PowerPoint Show and • begin with your first slide. Make it a Title Slide • Give it the title: “Meet & Greet Us”. • List both of your names in the sub-title box. Go Back to PP-101 Continue a new show
You are set to create more slides • Click on “new slide” to create Slide 2. • Choose a Title-Text-Clip Art style of slide. • Begin to type Words That Describe (Type Your Name) in the title. • On the 1st side of the slide, tell three words that describe you.
Now Add Clip Art • On the other side of the slide, you will add 3 clip art pictures that go with the words you chose. • To review how to find and use Clip Art, click the button below. Add Clip Art
Creating Slide 3 • Switch seats. • The Youngest student will now create a slide like Slide 2. • If help is needed, the Oldest student may go back and repeat some of the PowerPoint Show to review how to do layouts or Clip Art. • Work together to help each other decide what clip art to use and how to size it correctly. Add Clip Art
Use the Student Information Sheet to help you decide what information to include. Add more information about yourself. Then have your partner create a slide with similar information. Work with a variety of layouts. Creating Slides 4-7
Make Some Changes • Make changes to your slides. • Have a different slide background for each • person. Save your PowerPoint Show • Saving for the first time: • Go to File, then Save As and click open • Click on the file folder your teacher has created and open it. • Label your Show with Both names, without a space between them. • Click on SAVE AS TYPE and scroll down to PowerPoint Show *pps. Click & save. • Save the show in the folder by clicking save. End of Lesson 1-Push ESC key to end Show
Begin Lesson 2 • Each person will create a new slide titled “Colors & Shapes” • Add a different Auto Shape from the drawing task bar below. • Choose and click on a shape. Right click to copy it.
Copy & Change Colors • Paste your shape 3 more times onto your slide. • Change the colors of each shape using the paint bucket on the drawing task bar.
Create a Slide Animation • Using your slide Colors & Shapes, animate the shapes using Slide Animation. • Click below to learn how to add Slide Animations. Add Slide Animation
Make Transitions for Your Slides • Then continue and add Slide Transitions for all of your slides that you have created so far. • Click below to learn how to make Slide Transitions. Add a Transition End of Lesson 2
To Re-Save a PowerPoint Show • Go to file and click for a menu to open • Scroll down to SAVE • Click on save • After your show is saved, push the ESC key to escape. • Go back to file and click on Exit • Exit the program. End of Lesson 2 or 3
Begin Lesson 3 • Create a Title and Content slide that asks “What is your favorite sport?” in the title space. Then make 2 choices for possible answers.
Creating an Action Button • Choose your two favorite sports. • Now create an Action Button on your page to link to the website for these choices.Click below to see how to create a button. Create an action Button
To Add Clip Art Graphics Click on the and select Insert Clip Art. Search for a topic or picture. When you find one you want-click, drag & drop it into place. Begin Slide 3
To Animate the Entire Slide • Click on the next to the X • Click on a Slide Design Animation Schemes choice
When the Slide Design side bar appears on the right, click on a choice to see a preview. You can start at the top with Subtle animation and go through the Moderate and Exciting choices. Adding Slide Animation
To Add Sound Clips • Click on the next to the X • Under Slide Design choose Animation Schemes • Scroll up and down to see your choices.
Add Transitions to Slides • Click on the next to the X and choose Slide Transition • Click on each to preview choices. • Click on your choice to apply to a slide. Return to Make Transitions
Use Action Buttons • Click on the top Slide Show tab and highlight the action button. • Choose a button and click on it. • Adjust size and color • Insert text to label each button with the sport you chose. • Hyperlink them to the correct page. • Click the button to learn or review how to link to a website. Hyperlink a Button
To Hyperlink Slides • Go to the PowerPoint and click on the words or button that you want to be hyperlinked. • Right Click and click on “Hyperlink” • Push the keys for Ctrl + v to paste the address into hyperlink line • Go to Insert Hyperlink (on the task bar or right click and choose hyperlink)
Add a Hyperlink to a Website Find the website you want to link: • Minimize your PowerPoint screen. • Open the internet and open your site. • Copy & save the url address on a clipboard. (Right click and Copy) • In your PowerPoint, highlight the button you want to be linked. Paste.
Completing Lesson 3 • Adjust Animations, Transitions, Clip Art or Sound Clips in your show. • When you have made all your changes, you are ready to set your timings. • Go to Timings and set up how you want your show to be seen. Setting Timings
Set Timings for Your Show • Go to the Slide Transition task bar on the side. • Scroll down to Advance Slide • Uncheck the square before On mouse click • Click the box in front of Automatically after • Click on the up or down arrow to set the number of seconds between the slide changes.
Checking Your Timings • Click on Apply to All Slides if you want. • If you do not click Apply to All Slides the timing will apply to 1 slide only. • Check the AutoPreview to see your show. • You can adjust the timing on each slide or apply the same timing to all slides.
