Emerging ICTs and Access in Africa • There is tremendous potential for ICT-driven social and economic development throughout Africa; • It is now a known fact the emergency of ICT in Africa which has improved access and penetration, has created favourable enviroment for the African population to appreciate the introduction of ICT based postal solutions. • Building on this POTENTIAL, African Postal services can create new revenue opportunities • List of E-Post services which will benefit from availability of e-applications and hence enhance financial inclusion in Africa are already known.
The e-Post and the RASCOM satellite Solution • Connecting District Post Offices (DPOs) to Main Post Offices (MPO) – Initial Phase • RascomStar-QAF our commercial company will donate 15 terminals to carry out in collaboration with AUC,ITU, ATU PATU and UPU a pilot exercise related to e-Post services.
RASCOM’s keen interests in e-POST innitiative – RASCOM satellite solution • This is a continental initiative in collaboration with AUC, PAPU, ATU, UPU and ITU. • The RASCOM satellite can provide a continental platform for a total coverage of all African countries. • It facilitates the sharing of infrastructure throughout the co ntinent due to its coverage. • Satellites are predictable: 99.99999% reliable allowing constant, uniform and ubiquitous quality of services to all locations regardless of the geography/terrain • EXAMPLE –THE Pan African e-Network
