Introduction Welcome to “Zimbra Advanced Concepts” • Close all other applications (including instant messaging, email, etc.), Centra runs smoother • Click on Text Chat in the Centra Toolbar. Zimbra General Preferences • Most stable theme: Bare • Search Settings: if you check these– you’ll find the email that you accidently junked or deleted • Emails to fetch affects how fast your preview loads • Bubbles– On, you can see who is on a UACES DL • Bubbles— Off, you can see and copy/paste from within an email
Zimbra Mail Preferences Top • Frequent mail checks keep you in the loop, but increase network traffic • Display as HTML for more fonts and images. Display as Text for security • Snippets can save you from needing to open an email
Global Address Book This is the list of all @uaex.edu addresses
Carving Your Own Space • Create folders/subfolders • Sharing folders/Briefcase • Contact group creation • Tags • Instant Messaging • Advanced search • Mass scheduling
Zimbra Sharing—Containers • Rightclick on the Item • Click on the Share option listed • Rightclick on a container • Edit Properties
Creating a zimbra contact group, pt. 1 • Under Preferences: Turn off Bubbles • Create an email with all the addresses in the to: field • Then select all of the addresses and Copy them • Close the Email
Zimbra Contact group, pt. 2 • Open the Address Book, • Click on New • Click on Contact Group
Zimbra contact group, pt. 3 • Create a name • Paste the addresses at bottom right
Scheduling Appointments with Multiples • Schedule an appointment like normal • When entering attendees, you can use contact groups • Click More Details at bottom left • After you have all your attendees listed, take a look at the calendar on the left– Green means no conflicts • Left column also lists how many folks are available, along with the room
Investigate Scheduling Conflicts • A more detailed view by hour is listed at bottom right • You can hover over conflicts for more information
Can’t be Done with Zimbra mail • Rightclick a file and send to email • Delete a sent email • See if email has been opened
